Chen Longcan and Jiao Zhimin win in Singapore

China's Chen Longcan and Jiao Zhimin won the respective men's and women's titles at the 3rd Asian Cup held in Singapore from 11th to 14th September 1985.

In the men's singles all four semi-finalists were from China with Jiang Jialiang beating Teng Yi and Chen Longcan overcoming Chen Xinhua. Both matches were decided in three straight games; the final being resolved in four, Chen Longcan recovering from an opening game deficit to secure victory.

Meanwhile in the women's singles Jiao Zhimin beat colleague Ni Xia Lian in the final with Korea's Lee Sun and North Korea's Cho Jong Hui the respective losing semi-finalists.
