Wang Chuqin and Wang Manyu extract revenge, win in Weihai

On the same side of the table two years ago at the Buenos Aires 2018 Youth Olympic Games when they combined to win the mixed team title, on Wednesday 7th October at the 2020 Chinese National Championships staged in Weihai, it was a different scenario, Wang Chuqin and Sun Yingsha were adversaries.

They were on opposite sides in the mixed doubles final; Wang Chuqin partnered Wang Manyu; Sun Yingsha joined forces with Xu Xin, the verdict went in favour of the former. Wang Chuqin and Wang Manyu emerged victorious in five games (13-11, 11-9, 6-11, 11-1, 11-5).

Success for Wang Chuqin and Wang Manyu meant they gained revenge; earlier in the year in August at the Chinese Olympic Simulation Games, staged in Lingshui Province, they had been beaten in the final by Xu Xin and Sun Yingsha.

Nowadays with the mixed doubles gaining in importance, having been introduced into the schedule of the Olympic Games, China is looking into the future, as ever well prepared.

In Tokyo, Xu Xin and Liu Shiwen will be the selection having struck gold at the Agricultural Bank of China 2019 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals in Zhengzhou; however, judging the outcome oin Wehai, one fact is clearly evident, China has plenty of options.

Name your pair for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
