Shahroukh Shahnazi, a member of the ITTF Board of Directors was recently elected as the Secretary-General for the 2nd Islamic Solidarity Games at a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Iran National Olympic Committee.
It is a high ranking position and reflects the respect which Shahroukh Shahnazi has gained in recent years, being a prime mover in promoting table tennis in Iran and seeing the country move to a higher status in the sport. Notably Noshad Alamiyan has been very impressive on the ITTF Junior Circuit.
The 2nd Islamic Solidarity Games will be held in the summer of 2010; the exact date will be announced in the near future.
It is anticipated that more than 57 Moslem countries will participate in the prestigious the Games participating in no less than 23 disciplines.
A major event and for Shahroukh Shahnazi it is yet another responsibility.
In addition to being a member of the ITTF Board of Directors; currently he is the International Affairs Senior Adviser to the Vice President of Iran & President of the Physical Education Executive Board of the Iran National Olympic Committee, whilst also holding the post of Chairman of Iran National Olympic Committee Commission for International Relations.
Furthermore, he is President of the Iran Table Tennis Federation, Deputy President of the Asian Table Tennis Union and in the past he served as a Jury Member at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and 2009 Asian Youth Games, whilst being Chef de Mission and Head of the Iranian delegation at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games.
The appointment as the Secretary-General for the 2nd Islamic Solidarity Games is one more string to the bow.
